"It didn't hurt the way I feared. I slept right through it and woke up." That was the first line that caught my eye in this patient's feedback. Before surgery, what worried him most was pain and after-effects. Once it was over, his answer was that simple.
Worries before surgery vs what actually happened
He essentially slept through the whole operation. I can't tell anyone that this is a procedure with no pain at all. Sensitivity differs from person to person, and there are stretches during recovery when the chest feels tight and sore. But when anesthesia is managed carefully and the operating time is kept short, some patients do come away with exactly this memory: eyes open, and it's already finished.

For many men, the discomfort of gynecomastia starts with the possibility of meeting someone's eyes in the waiting room. He also wrote that the team put him at ease during the procedure itself, so he went in without worry. From the patient's side, the minutes before anesthesia are the tensest part of the day, and all of us on the medical team work to keep that stretch of time calm.
