"I Should Have Done This Sooner"

There are usually three things that make people hesitate about gynecomastia surgery.

Fear of the surgery itself, worry about what others might think, and cost. When these three concerns become tangled together in your mind, the decision keeps getting pushed further and further away. Today, we share the story of one patient who arrived carrying all three worries — and left having resolved them, one by one.

Three worries, resolved one by one

Before surgery, what worried this patient most were the procedure itself, other people's eyes, and the cost.

But after going through it himself, here is how he summed it up: the surgery wasn't painful at all and went wonderfully, he overcame the worry about others' opinions on his own, and the cost turned out to be far less than he had imagined.

Looking back after surgery

"The surgery didn't hurt and went great,
and it cost much less than I expected."

Gynecomastia is a medical condition that qualifies for national health insurance coverage when certain criteria are met. Many people who have put off treatment, imagining an enormous bill, tell us after receiving actual guidance that "the burden is much smaller than I thought." Once you know the facts, the weight of the worry shrinks considerably.

"Everyone was almost surprisingly kind"

When we asked about his first impression of the clinic, his answer stayed with us.

First impression

"Everyone was so kind that it almost
felt surreal — in the best way."

He told us the consultants, doctors, and nurses were all equally warm, and that he felt genuinely cared for from the very first day of surgery. For someone who walks in tense, warmth that might seem excessive is exactly what puts them at ease. If that feeling came through, it is everything we hoped for.

A few reassuring words of explanation

When we asked what he remembered most from the surgery itself, he recalled one person's words.

He said the surgeon walked him through the procedure with steady reassurance, which lifted much of the weight off his shoulders. Everyone feels tense on the operating table. In those moments, I see time and again how much a few calm words of explanation can lighten a patient's heart.

"I think I'll walk with my chest held high"

When we asked what he wanted to do first after surgery, this was his answer.

The first thing he wants to do after surgery

"I think I'll walk with my chest held high.
I'll finally be able to dress comfortably, too."

Thinking of all the time he spent hunched over, self-conscious about how clothes fit, you can imagine just how big a change those words represent.

When we asked if he had anything to say to others facing the same worry, this was his reply.

To anyone facing the same worry

"I should have done this sooner.
Don't put it off — you'll be so glad you did it."

He added that he felt thoughtfully cared for from his first consultation all the way through recovery, and that he would wholeheartedly recommend us to anyone around him with the same concern. Trueman Gangnam will stand by that trust, every step of the way.
