To Those Facing the Same Concerns

“One moment of courage,
and your life changes.”

One Moment of Courage Can Change Your Life

For those who have agonized over the decision for a long time, taking that final step is the hardest part.

Will the surgery go well? Will recovery go smoothly? The pause at the threshold of the decision stretches longer and longer. Because we understand that feeling better than anyone, today I am borrowing the story of one patient who crossed that threshold.

Facing the Worry of “Will It Go Well?”

His biggest initial worries were whether the surgery would go well, and what the recovery process would be like.

But after hearing a clear, well-organized explanation during his consultation, he said he felt reassured.

Vague worry grows largest when information is missing. When we explain step by step what will be done, how, and in what order recovery unfolds, that worry visibly shrinks.

When Kindness Melts Away the Unfamiliar

A clinic you are visiting for the first time feels a little unfamiliar to anyone.

He felt that unfamiliarity at first too, but said the staff were so kind that he settled in quickly.

What turns an unfamiliar space into a comfortable one is, in the end, people. We believe a single first greeting sets the tone for the entire time a patient spends with us.

The Moment He Felt Their Care

When we asked about a memorable moment during the surgery, he was honest about his nerves first.

He was very tense before going into surgery, but said the tension melted away once he could feel the medical team close at his side, doing everything they could to keep him out of pain.

“When I could feel the medical team right there beside me, working to keep me from hurting, the tension just melted away.”

Surgery is not solved by technique alone. Staying by a patient's side so they can truly relax is part of our responsibility, too.

“One Moment of Courage, and Your Life Changes”

Asked what he wanted to do first after surgery, he said he wanted to train harder at the gym and wear the clothes he had always wanted to wear. He added that he felt his life was about to change more boldly from here on.

Asked what he would say to others facing the same concerns, he answered:

“I agonized over it too. But one moment of courage, and your life changes. Stop deliberating — just start with a consultation.”

The longer you have wrestled with the decision, the greater the change feels once it is made. Trueman Gangnam will be there for that one moment of courage.
