I Worried Whether the Surgery Would Go Well — It Barely Hurt at All

Before deciding on surgery, the heaviest words boil down to two.

'Will it go well?' and 'Will it hurt?'

It was written right there in the first line of the review.

"I worried whether the surgery would go well, but once I actually had it, it barely hurt at all."

That one line is, frankly, the answer we most want to hear. If a patient has to consciously endure pain, it is a sign that anesthesia and pain management fell short. 'It barely hurt' also means the standard protocol for managing pain through every stage of recovery worked exactly as it should.

When asked about the most memorable moment during surgery, the answer he wrote struck me.

"I lay down, my arms and legs were secured, and suddenly the surgery was over — a surreal experience. The anesthesia was amazing."

A brief sensation just before anesthesia, and then the next scene: the ceiling of the recovery room. The time a patient must consciously endure simply disappears — that is the real meaning packed into the line 'the anesthesia was amazing.'

The answer written in the review.

"I want to do chest workouts."
