Before Summer Arrives: A Word for Those Still Hesitating

Before Summer Arrives:
A Word for Those Still Hesitating
- Gangnam Branch -
Every year when May comes around, the mood in the consultation room begins to change.
"This summer, I really want to wear a T-shirt without a second thought."
"I made up my mind after seeing last year's vacation photos."
As summer draws near, more and more people bring out the decision they had been putting off.
Today, I want to answer the question they ask most often,
honestly, borrowing the words of a patient who recently had surgery at our Gangnam branch.
"Side effects were my biggest worry"
Before deciding on surgery, the heaviest word of all is 'side effects.'
If you have searched the internet even once, you will understand this feeling completely.
The review read like this.
What I worried about most were side effects and discomfort after surgery.
But the surgery went well, without any major side effects.
Of course, every surgery carries the variable of possibility. But when standardized technique, thorough pre-operative evaluation, and check-ups at every stage of recovery go hand in hand, that possibility drops to a level that can be well managed.
That is exactly why we take our time with consultations and carry out pre-operative testing so meticulously.
"When I woke up from the sleep anesthesia, it was already over"
There is one part of these reviews that resonates with the most people.
"When I woke up from the sleep anesthesia, the surgery was already finished."
During consultations we hear so many questions like "Will it hurt during the surgery?" and "What if I wake up in the middle?"
But the actual experience is almost always the same: the sensation of having merely closed and opened your eyes, only to find everything already done.
In that brief span, a worry carried for years gets resolved along with it.
"The compression garment was a bit uncomfortable, but bearable"
Let me be honest with you. The standard two weeks of compression garment wear after surgery (extended depending on your condition) can certainly feel unfamiliar and confining. This review, too, noted that "the compression garment was uncomfortable, but bearable."
How you spend this period determines the final contour of your result. It is the time when swelling settles and the skin adapts to its new shape. It passes quickly, but it is the most important stretch of recovery. This is why we so strongly recommend wearing the compression garment — and those who see this period through are ultimately the ones most satisfied with their results.
"Now I can shop for summer clothes without worrying about my chest"
The answer that struck me most in the review was this. Asked about 'the first thing you want to do after surgery,' the patient wrote not something grand, but this single sentence. "I can buy summer clothes without worrying about my chest."
If you have spent every year in clothing stores avoiding crew necks and slim fits, you know the weight of that one line.
Not having to hesitate when you find something you like in a department store fitting room. Not instinctively hunching your shoulders wondering whether someone's eyes might land on you. Confidence, in truth, begins not with dramatic change but with small everyday moments like these.
"To anyone with the same concern"
The answer to the review's final question — "If you could say one thing to someone struggling with the same concern?" — was
this.
"Don't agonize over it — get the surgery soon."
Words from us and words from someone who has actually been through it carry different weight.
So today, rather than my own words, I wanted to pass along the patient's line exactly as he wrote it.
Summer comes every year.
The question is whether you will stand in the same place, in front of the same clothes, repeating the same hesitation.
Or whether this summer will be a little different.
If this post has lightened the weight of that hesitation even a little,
that is enough. The rest of the answer, in the end, lies within you.
Trueman Gangnam Branch will walk alongside you with the highest level of care at every moment.
