Despite All the Worry,
It Went Smoothly

Some patients sum up how they felt before and after surgery in a single sentence.

One patient who recently had surgery with us did exactly that. "Despite all my worry, it went smoothly." It was a short remark, but it quietly captured how that vague fear — the one anyone facing surgery carries — settles down. Today, borrowing his story, I would like to share a few words with those of you wrestling with the same concerns.

His biggest worry was the surgery itself — and the recovery

The first concern that came to his mind was the surgical process itself, and the recovery that would follow.

Dr. Minsoo Kim — Story 10

Facing your first surgery, it is only natural to wonder, "Will it go well? How long will recovery take?" But once he actually went through it, everything went smoothly despite his worries — and he told us, "As long as you follow the aftercare instructions, there really is nothing to worry about."

"As long as you follow the aftercare instructions, there really is nothing to worry about"

In gynecomastia surgery, recovery is a process the patient and the medical team build together. The more faithfully a patient follows the aftercare guidance we provide, the more stable their progress tends to be. In that sense, his remark was a precise insight.

"A kind, thorough consultation"

When I asked what stood out most about his first visit to the clinic, he pointed to the consultation.

"The consultation was kind and thorough. I really appreciated that."

I believe the consultation is half the surgery. The time we spend accurately assessing a patient's condition and transparently explaining the process becomes the foundation of the entire outcome. Turning vague anxiety into concrete understanding — that is where a good surgery begins.

Nothing dramatic — just calm

When asked whether any moment during the surgery particularly stood out, he had nothing in particular to mention.

I take that kind of composure as a good sign. It means the process flowed calmly — no startling moments, no pain that left a mark on his memory. The less dramatic a surgery is, the better.

"Stop agonizing — at least come in for a consultation"

When asked whether he had anything to say to others facing the same struggle, he answered this way.

"Stop agonizing over it — at least come in for a consultation."

And then he left us with one final word.

"I'm satisfied."

You don't have to decide first. It is never too late to decide after you fully understand. But the time spent carrying this alone and putting it off — that is the part I hope you can now cut short.
