This Summer,
the Freedom of a Single T-Shirt

When we ask patients "what do you want to do first" after surgery, the answers are often surprisingly modest.

Dr. Minsu Kim Part 7

One recent patient answered: "This summer, I want to try wearing a fitted T-shirt." He said it with a smile, but packed into that one sentence were all the years spent fussing over what to wear. Today, borrowing his story, I would like to share a few words with those carrying the same concern.

His Biggest Worry Was the Pain

The first worry that came to his mind, too, was pain.

He told us honestly that for a while after surgery, a throbbing sensation bothered him when he lay down at night. It would be dishonest to say there is no pain at all — gynecomastia surgery does come with some discomfort during recovery.

But that discomfort settles naturally with time. Patients who know exactly what to expect and prepare for it move through recovery all the more calmly.

"I Expected Stiff and Formal — It Was Far Warmer Than I Thought"

Before opening the clinic door for the first time, he assumed the atmosphere would be stiff and awkward.

But once he arrived, he found it far softer and warmer than expected — and from the front desk to the medical team, everything moved quickly and smoothly, with no long, anxious waiting.

The chest is a part of the body that is hard to show anyone. That is why we consider putting you at ease from the moment you take that first step inside to be our highest priority.

"Over in the Blink of an Eye"

When we asked about his most memorable moment during surgery, he answered:

"It was over sooner than I expected. It felt like it was done in the blink of an eye."

The more nervous a patient is walking in, the more often we hear afterward how surprisingly short and easy it was. Helping you relax and finish the surgery in a comfortable state is part of our job.

If You Are Hesitating, Start with a Search

Asked if he had anything to say to others with the same concern, his answer was short and clear.

"Just start by looking it up."

You do not have to begin with a grand resolution. Looking into it, getting a consultation — that small step is the start. Like the everyday life he pictured, "comfortably wearing a single T-shirt in summer," some freedoms look trivial yet have been deferred for years.
