"It Felt Like It Was Over in Three Seconds"

When I ask about the length of the surgery, many people remember it differently from how it actually was. Because it was time spent asleep, they have no basis for measuring it. The person I am introducing today put that sense into a number.

"Because of the anesthesia I don't really remember. It felt like it was over in three seconds"

Thirty Minutes Asleep

Our gynecomastia surgery is performed under sedation. Because the surgery begins after you fall asleep, the time in between is not felt. The surgery itself actually takes about thirty minutes, and I explain the results in the recovery room after the surgery is finished.

Shortening the surgery time is not about setting a record. The shorter it is, the less burden it places on the body, so we have refined our approach in that direction.

After a Few Days

As their biggest worry before surgery, they wrote pain, and then continued like this: "Pain. After a few days it eased a lot and didn't bother me"

It is accurate of them to include the timing. After gynecomastia surgery, the stretch of greatest discomfort is concentrated in the first few days. However, this is this person's case, and the degree and duration of pain vary with the extent of excision and the individual's condition.

The Two Most Stifling Days

The 12 to 48 hours right after surgery are a period with a risk of bleeding, so you spend that time with one more layer of compression over the compression garment. With double pressure on the chest and abdomen, this is the most stifling period.

When you come to the clinic the next day, we check for any bleeding and then remove that additional compression. During this period you cannot do upper-body exercise, but you can do light walking or lower-body squats.

What You Learn at the Consultation

As their impression when they first came to the clinic, they wrote this: "The staff were kind, and I learned a lot of information at the consultation"

The information you look up on your own and the information that applies to you are different. Which part of what you can feel now is glandular tissue and which is fat, and accordingly whether surgery is needed, is determined at the examination. It is also at this point that I explain that glandular tissue does not shrink along with weight loss.

Words to Start with a Consultation

The words they left for others with the same concern were these: "If you're unsure, I hope you'll start by getting a consultation"

It is advice to check first. Deciding after an examination that it is not yet time is also a conclusion. For what they wanted to do after surgery, they wrote a single word, exercise. We decide when to resume upper-body exercise while watching your progress, and in the last box they left their thanks.
