"I Felt I Had Worried for Nothing"
Many people worry about anesthesia ahead of surgery. Some do not distinguish between general anesthesia and sedation, and some go as far as thinking about what happens if they do not wake up.
The worries this person wrote before surgery were pain and anesthesia as well.
"There wasn't much pain after surgery either, and once the surgery was over I felt I had worried for nothing."
The Anesthesiologist Handles the Anesthesia
The anesthesia for gynecomastia surgery is sedation. Once the medication goes in you stay asleep until the surgery is over, and in the meantime the anesthesiologist continuously checks your breathing, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation. I, as the operating surgeon, enter the operating room after the anesthesia has taken effect and concentrate on the surgery. The result is explained in the recovery room after the surgery is finished.
After waking from anesthesia, some people feel drowsy for about half a day. This is a normal course. You must not drive in that state, so we advise in advance not to bring a car on the day of surgery.

I Explain Pain as a Range
Not feeling much pain was this person's case. People feel it differently depending on the amount and firmness of the tissue removed, the extent of the surgery, and their usual sensitivity to pain. Some say they feel stiff for several days, and some describe feeling tight because of swelling.
So I do not tell people in advance that it will not hurt. Instead, I explain together at what point and up to what degree it may appear, how it is managed with painkillers, and beyond what line you should come in for an earlier appointment.
What We Do in Consultation
About when they first came to the clinic, they wrote that everyone gave them a kind consultation. Many people who come for gynecomastia are raising this for the first time. All-male staff at the Incheon branch is also a condition set to reduce the burden of that moment. In consultation I explain in advance the thickness of tissue to leave, the incision location, and the stages of recovery, and I distinguish the parts that are adjusted during surgery according to the condition of the tissue as such.
Walking Around with Confidence
In the box asking what they wanted to do after surgery, they wrote a few words.
"Walking around with confidence"
And to others with the same concern, they left this.
"I think it would be good to have the surgery and visit the clinic without too much worry."
These are the words of someone who finished the surgery, looking back on their own experience. Whether you are in a condition that needs surgery is something to decide after checking at an examination.
Feel free to ask any questions about anesthesia at your appointment.
