3 Things You Must Check

 

As of 2026, the cost of gynecomastia surgery for glandular or mixed-type cases
generally falls in the range of about KRW 2.5 to 4.5 million.

This amount is not fixed, however. It can vary considerably depending on the patient's gynecomastia grade (*Simon grade)
and the surgical method used.

When planning surgery, choosing a clinic by comparing prices alone is not a wise decision.
Be sure to review these three items before surgery.

*What is the Simon grade?

A gynecomastia classification system published by Dr. Simon in 1973.
Grades are assigned based on the amount of glandular and fat tissue and the presence of sagging skin.
The higher the grade, the more tissue there is to remove and the wider the scope of surgery tends to be.

1. Your Actual Out-of-Pocket Cost

When glandular tissue is confirmed on ultrasound and the case is Simon grade 2a (II-a) or higher,
the surgery is recognized as therapeutic and may be covered by private health insurance.

With insurance coverage, about 70–80% of the total cost can be reimbursed, reducing
the patient's actual out-of-pocket expense to around 20–30%.

If you choose a clinic based on a low price alone

Excessive fat removal may cause
chest depressions and indentations

So when choosing a clinic, rather than comparing prices alone, it is wise to weigh the surgeon's experience and expertise, the operating room environment, the post-operative care system, and actual patients' before-and-after photos and reviews as a whole.

Gynecomastia surgery is an important choice for both physical health and psychological recovery.
Before looking at the visible price tag, think first about the results you want to achieve.
