Same-Day Surgery, Same-Day Discharge Worried Me

Gynecomastia surgery is performed as same-day surgery with same-day discharge. Hearing that for the first time actually makes some people worry. The person who left this review wrote, "Hearing it was same-day surgery and same-day discharge, I was worried at first."

It is because this is not an operation large enough to require admission. That does not mean we simply send you off the moment it ends. After you wake from anesthesia, we check blood pressure, pulse, and pain level in the recovery room and look at the dressing to see whether bleeding at the surgical site has settled. If there is nothing unusual, you generally walk out the same day; if more observation is needed, we take more time. We also explain what to watch for that night at home and how to reach us if a problem arises.

Being at a clinic for a day without knowing where you will be or what will happen is tiring in itself. So the route before and after surgery is set in advance and a staff member is assigned to you. This person said that thanks to the consultation manager keeping track of the schedule, they had surgery and were discharged without difficulty.

What they worried about most before surgery was pain and disruption to daily life. Their answer afterward was: "It didn't hurt much, there was only slight discomfort, so I'm satisfied." Pain varies widely between individuals and also changes with the amount of tissue removed. Please read it as meaning that was this person's case.

Of their first visit, they said the "process was well organized, which inspired confidence," and that the staff kindly explained the sequence before and after surgery as well as the precautions right afterward, which was why they decided to go ahead. People who decide already knowing what is normal and what is not tend to waver less during recovery.

To others with the same concern, they left the advice to choose a clinic by looking at surgical experience and aftercare procedures. That is the standard they set from their own experience, and whether to have surgery is something to decide after confirming your own condition at an examination. If "aftercare" sounds vague, ask at the consultation how many follow-up visits there will be and when, how long the compression garment is worn, and where to call if something goes wrong at night.

They left the box for what they wanted to do after surgery empty. Next time they come in, I will ask what they would write there.
