What a short review tells us

The review I want to share this time is among the shortest I have ever received.

Nearly half of the questions are blank, and most of the answers that are there run to a single line. At first I found that a shame. But reading it again, the shortness was itself an answer. Not a review with nothing to say, but a review with nothing to write because the feared things did not happen. Today I want to fill in some of that blank space myself.

The answer to his worry came in one line

걱정의 답이 한 줄로 끝났습니다

Before surgery his worries were complications, and whether he would be satisfied with the result. The same worries most men bring with them.

His answer about how those worries turned out was one line.

"The surgery went well and I'm satisfied."

Worries large enough to fill a page before surgery fold down into a single line afterwards. I think that drop is the essence of gynecomastia surgery. Compared with the size of the deliberation, what remains to be said afterwards is surprisingly brief. Not everyone's course is the same, of course, and there are individual differences — but for him, that is how the one line was written.

His impression of the clinic was short as well: only that the staff were kind. I read that as meaning nothing eventful happened. That care, surgery and recovery passed without any particular bumps. From a clinic's point of view, that is also the best verdict there is.

다음 계획은 구체적이었습니다

His plans were specific

There is exactly one place where the short answers grew longer: the box asking what he wanted to do after surgery.

"Work out and make the shape of my chest look better."

That sentence pleased me. While a man has gynecomastia, the chest is something to hide, not something to cultivate. Even when men exercise, they look away from that area, and many say the mirror at the gym was uncomfortable. Once the surgery was done, the chest became, for him, a part of the body he wants to build. From a body to hide to a body to look after. That the longest sentence in the review is a plan for the future is the real content of this short review.

If you have read the blank spaces too

His words for men with the same concern were short as well.

"I recommend the surgery!"

This came out of his own experience. Whether surgery is needed, and which method suits you, is something to decide after confirming your own condition through an examination — I want to be clear about that.

But I would summarize this short review this way. The worry belonged to the time before surgery, and he is now a man writing down his next plans. If you need a longer explanation, that part is mine to fill in, in the consultation room.
