"The Shape Came Out Better Than I Thought"

The worry I hear most often in gynecomastia consultations is about shape. It already bothers them now, so what if it looks even stranger after surgery?

What the person I am introducing today wrote as their biggest worry before surgery was exactly that: "That the chest shape would come out strange."

What Determines the Shape

Gynecomastia surgery is a treatment that removes glandular tissue. However, scooping it all out is not good surgery. If too much of the tissue directly under the areola is removed, that area can look sunken, so how much to leave is the core of the surgery.

That is why the amount excised differs for each patient. We decide by looking at the original amount of tissue, skin condition, and body type together. It is called the same surgery, but the judgments made inside are different every time.

What You See Now Is Not the End

Right after surgery, swelling remains. While the space created where tissue was removed adheres under compression, the shape settles little by little.

So the appearance at one month and at three months is not the same. I tell people in advance that there is no need to rush to judgment based on what they see early in recovery. The sentence this person continued with after surgery was: "The shape came out better than I thought." This is their course, and the shape of the result differs from person to person.

"When I Woke Up from Sleeping"

When I asked about a memorable moment during surgery, they wrote briefly: "I slept and woke up, and the surgery was over."

Our gynecomastia surgery is performed under sedation, and the surgery itself takes about thirty minutes. The explanation of the result is given in the recovery room after the surgery is finished.

The first 12 to 48 hours after surgery are a period with a risk of bleeding, so you spend that time with additional compression over the compression garment, and the next day at the clinic we check for bleeding and then remove that compression.

An Impression Written in a Few Words

As their impression on first coming to the clinic, they wrote: "Clean and kind."

Some people write long reviews and some write short ones, and this person finished all six boxes within one line each. Even so, what they had worried about and what they had confirmed were all written down.

An Answer of "Exercise"

For what they most wanted to do after surgery, they wrote the single word exercise. I advise on when to resume upper-body exercise while watching the course, and until then, light walking or lower-body squats are possible.

To others with the same concern, they left the words to have surgery soon. This is their experience, and whether to have surgery is something to judge after confirming your condition through an examination.
