"I Was Worried About Side Effects Later On"
"I Was Worried About Side Effects Later On"
In the box for what worried them most before surgery, "side effects later on" was written. Next to it, they continued: "Thanks to the kind explanation, I was able to have it with peace of mind."
When asked about side effects, we do not say they will not occur. We tell people in advance about hematoma, where blood collects at the surgical site; seroma, where fluid gathers; sensation around the areola being dulled for a while; and the two sides not feeling exactly the same in shape. Some occur rarely, and some resolve over time. What matters is knowing which signs mean you should contact us right away. If one side suddenly swells up, or the pain becomes severe along with a feeling of heat, do not wait for your scheduled appointment; just contact us.
Wearing the compression garment for the period we specify is also for this stretch. It is to press down so the area where tissue was removed does not lift, and to reduce swelling. We also schedule several dates for you to come in for follow-up. Experienced without knowing, it can seem like an abnormal symptom, but experienced with knowledge, it is the recovery process.
Many people also ask about scars. The incision goes in along the lower border of the areola, and the scar remains along that line. It looks red for the first few weeks and fades over time, but the speed differs from person to person and also depends on constitution. If it is exposed directly to UV light, the color lingers longer, so it is better to cover it in summer.
About their first visit, they wrote, "It was good that all the staff were men, and there was a private waiting space, so I could visit comfortably." Because it is the first place they bring up their chest, some people place great weight on not running into others while waiting.
They wrote that no moment during surgery particularly stayed with them. The anesthesia is handled by the anesthesiologist, and the director performing the surgery comes in after the anesthesia is complete. It is normal to have no stretch to remember.
To others with the same concern, they wrote not to agonize over it and to have it done as soon as possible. This is their experience; whether to have surgery is something to judge after confirming your own condition through an examination. As what they wanted to do after surgery, they named wearing clothes comfortably. Once the period when the wound and swelling settle has passed, you can start by taking out the clothes you could not wear before.
